In this talk I will survey some results about regularity of transition layers in the singularly perturbed Allen-Cahn equation, including:

(i) zeroth order regularity; (ii) first order regularity and its relation with De Giorgi conjecture; (iii) second order regularity and its application to the classification of finite Morse index solutions.
